LAUNCH TIME:2014/12/23

Christmas day is a familiar holiday for many people in cities. Every shopping mall prepares various Christmas decorations each December. Endless Christmas activities dazzle our eyes. But Christmas day is a strange term for children who are far away from cities and do not have parents around them. On this Christmas Eve, the volunteer team of Trendy International Group once again came to the Dongmang Primary School located at Sanpai Town, Liannan County, Qingyuan, Guangdong Province to send their Christmas blessings for left-behind children here and organized a simple but interesting Christmas party at school.
On the day of the activity, volunteers arrived at Dongmang Primary School about one hour late due to a highway collapse. The children were very happy to see the volunteers and felt especially warm when they saw the familiar faces of volunteers who had participated in the activity last time.
Two hosts introduced the background and explained the stories about Christmas day in funny opening remarks, and then asked some simple questions for the children. The activity broadened their horizons to important western festivals.
Christmas Creation
The first part of the activity is to let volunteers lead the children to arrange Christmas trees. Seeing the unshaped Christmas trees, the children quickly surrounded them and could not wait to work. Under the leadership of the volunteers, the embryonic forms of Christmas trees soon came out. The children cheerfully picked up decorative items and dressed up the trees in ways that they have imagined. In the blink of an eye, beautiful and special Christmas trees appeared. All children and volunteers came to take photos with their own Christmas trees. Later, volunteers gave out a blank Christmas card for each child on which they can create all kinds of patterns by following their own ideas, and then wrote down their blessings to their most beloved people. The little greeting cards contained simple wishes of children and allowed them to express their sincerest blessings to teachers, the president and parents, which they have rarely done before.

Spend Christmas Day with Left-Behind Children Christmas Game

This time, volunteers brought three games for the children, namely a 3D jigsaw puzzle game – to test the children’s hands-on ability, a ball digging game – to cultivate the children’s team spirit, and a fixing Santa Claus game while blindfolded – to encourage the children to trust team members. The games were carried out in groups. In order to win the games, cooperation was necessary for volunteers and children, besides, they also needed to discuss the best strategies. It was a challenge for both children and volunteers. All the adults and children threw themselves into the games. Teachers at the side also praised the games which brought so much joy to the children. The volunteers would like to give the children different experiences and gains in the games. After the games were over, the teachers put the 3D pictures made by these children on the cabinet of the art room as a collection of exhibits and hoped that these pictures would carry the good memories back to the children every time when they take an art class.

Eventually, Santa Claus suddenly appeared and pushed the atmosphere to a climax. Trendy International Group carefully prepared Christmas gifts for the children. Santa Claus would give the gifts to every child and show the concerns and supports of the Group to the school. The Group hopes to help students make further progress in life and study.

Spend Christmas Day with Left-Behind Children

A simple and pure smile, a brief word, and a casual habit quietly made volunteers moved. They came back with different feelings. This is just the significance of the activity – let left-behind children get a new life experience and allow volunteers to take a fresh look at their lives. Everyone gained joy and growth in the volunteer activity.
